FAQ

Obelisks

  • Overview
After the Great Dragons melted the Ice Queen and brought summer to Shingård for the first time, they raised mighty Obelisks across the land. Each Obelisk contains a spark of dragonfire. The Great Dragons, long-since known for their both their wisdom and their legendary sense of irony, made it so their power might only be harnessed by all three races working together.

As your Clan conquers and strengthens Obelisks, the borders of your Clan's realm will expand and their growing influence over the lands of Shingård will be shown on the Clan Map. Conquering, holding and upgrading Obelisks will play a huge part in your Clan's position in the Clan Rankings (along with any Achievements earned by your Clan).

Consider yourself warned: the quest for control of the Obelisks is not an easy one. The Cold Legions are constantly moving to conquer the Obelisks themselves, so in addition to rival Clans, you will have to defend an Obelisk against increasingly powerful waves of Risen warriors!

Maintaining the Obelisks will take large amounts of Resources and coordination – no single Lord Marshal can do it alone. To battle for control over Obelisks, you must either join a Clan or start your own.

You can locate Obelisks using the Clan Map. Plan your attacks carefully, as any Obelisk you find might be heavily defended by Cold Legions or a rival Clan.

Once you've captured an Obelisk, defending it from the Cold Legions will earn you valuable Elixir. This can be used to grant "Infused" status to your Units, reducing their Fire Ale Consumption, increasing their strength, and improving their overall effectiveness in battle.

Obelisks that your Clan hold can be upgraded with Resources. Upgrading an Obelisk improves its Defensive Bonus, its effective range of protection, its Elixir collection efficiency, and its storage capacity. Furthermore, the range of Unit types that can be improved to "Infused" status will increase as the Obelisk's level does.
  • Obelisk Range
The area of influence an Obelisk has on the surrounding territory is determined by the Obelisk's Range. This in turn is determined according to its development level and its proximity to adjoining Obelisks controlled by the same Clan. This means that two Obelisks of the same level can have different Ranges, depending on where a Clan's other controlled Obelisks are located. If an Obelisk is positioned adjacent to one or more Obelisks that are controlled by the same Clan, its Range will increase. The total output of all Obelisks will play a huge part in determining your Clan's position in the Clan Rankings - along with any Achievements earned by your Clan. Conquer as many adjoining Obelisks as possible and assert your dominance over the lands of Shingård!
  • Developing Obelisks
Once a Clan has conquered an Obelisk, its members must pool their Resources towards developing it. Every Clan member is able to contribute Resources towards an Obelisk's next development Level. The progress bar will display the Clan's collective contribution. Once the progress bar is full, the Obelisk will upgrade to the next development Level and both its Range and its output will increase. If a Clan's Obelisk is lost and conquered by rivals, it will automatically downgrade at a rate of 1 development Level per hour. If a Clan succeeds in re-conquering the Obelisk within 60 minutes after it has been conquered by another Clan, it will remain at whichever Level it is at, at the time of re-conquering.

You will receive regular Updates on your Clan's Obelisks in your reports.
  • Clan Map
The Clan Map is a Map scale, found on the regular game Map, that displays all Clans according to their controlled territory.

Clan Chiefs and Advisors are able to alter the diplomatic status of other Clans from the Clan Hall. Once you've changed a Clan's status, it will be reflected on the Clan Map - with the appropriate icon visible to all Clan members.

Conquered Obelisks will appear on the map with the occupying Clan's logo.
  • Obelisk Interactions (Map)
Place your cursor over any Obelisk on the Map to choose from a menu of possible actions:

"To the Clan Hall" – This opens the Obelisk statistics window, containing the following tree tabs (if this Obelisk is currently controlled by your Clan):

    "Obelisks" - Here you can:
    - Send additional Resources and check the Obelisk's development progress
    - Check the amount of Elixir your Clan has earned
    - Redistribute Elixir to different Obelisks (only available to Chiefs and Advisors)
    - View the Obelisk's development display

    "Garrisons" - Here you can:
    - Send Reinforcements to an Obelisk
    - View all Units currently stationed at an Obelisk

    "Upgrading" - Here you can:
    - Select the number and type of Units to upgrade to Infused status
    - Review the Obelisk's Unit history

"Send Reinforcements" - select this option to send Reinforcements to an Obelisk. This option is only available for Obelisks currently controlled by your Clan.

"Conquer" – Here you can send forces to capture an Obelisk.

"Scout" - Attempt to scout out an Obelisk.

Use the navigation panel or scroll around with the mouse from the Clan Map or Regular Map to locate an Obelisk and view its pop-up action menu.

If an Obelisk is conquered by the Enemy, any and all surviving Units guarding it will be returned to their respective Strongholds.
  • Obelisk Interactions (Stronghold)
To interact with an Obelisk from the Clan Hall, your Clan must have conquered at least one Obelisk on the Map. Once your Clan has control of one or more Obelisks, go to the Clan Hall and open the "Obelisks" tab. From here, you can view information on the number and type of Units currently garrisoned at any Obelisk conquered by your Clan. Clan Chiefs and Advisors can also use this interface to redistribute Elixir between Obelisks. Click on the Obelisk's icon to view it on the map. Click the button on the left-hand side of the screen to open the Obelisk's statistics window. From here, you can add Resources to work towards its next upgrade Level or redistribute collected Elixir either to or from its Elixir Storage. The Obelisk control window is only available at the Clan Hall if you are already a member of an existing Clan, or have otherwise created your own.

You will receive battle reports on your Clan's Obelisks.

To control Reinforcements garrisoned at an Obelisk, simply open the "Garrisons" tab. From here you can view, reinforce, or recall any Reinforcements you currently have stationed at any Obelisk conquered by your Clan.
